Fasting sugar and kidney function are added to the basic itch panel. High sugar causes itching and skin infections, and kidney disease causes a persistent, widespread itch, so these two tests cover a gap in the basic set. With total IgE, the liver function test, the thyroid profile and a blood count, it forms a sound middle-level work-up. It does not include iron studies or ESR.

Blood count & inflammation 1 test
Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.
RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).
Diabetes & blood sugar 1 test
Current and 3-month average blood sugar, plus insulin markers for diabetes and insulin resistance.
The concentration of glucose in your blood after an overnight fast.
Liver 1 test
Liver enzymes, bilirubin and proteins that show inflammation, fatty liver or reduced liver function.
SGPT/ALT, SGOT/AST, ALP, GGT, total/direct/indirect bilirubin, total protein, albumin, globulin, and the A/G ratio.
Kidney & electrolytes 1 test
How well your kidneys filter waste, plus the salts (electrolytes) they keep in balance.
Blood urea/BUN, serum creatinine, eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate), uric acid, sodium, potassium, chloride, and calcium.
Thyroid 1 test
Thyroid hormones and antibodies - an under- or over-active thyroid affects weight, energy, mood and heart rate.
Total/Free T3 (triiodothyronine), Total/Free T4 (thyroxine), and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone, produced by the pituitary gland to regulate the thyroid).
Allergy 1 test
Measures allergic (IgE) sensitisation to common food and inhaled triggers.
The total concentration of IgE antibodies in the blood.
