About this package

In haemolytic anaemia the problem is not production but destruction: red cells are being removed from circulation faster than the marrow can replace them. The reticulocyte count shows how hard the marrow is responding, LDH rises when cells break, and haptoglobin, a protein that mops up free haemoglobin, falls. The peripheral smear lets a pathologist see the shape of cells directly, which can suggest the cause. With the blood count and CRP, the panel helps decide whether a haemolytic cause is likely. It needs a doctor's interpretation, because infections, medicines, inherited disorders and autoimmune conditions can all cause it, and the next tests depend on the pattern.

Investigates anaemia caused by red cells breaking down too fast: reticulocytes, LDH, haptoglobin, smear, CRP and blood count.

What does this package cover?

The 6 tests are grouped into 3 health areas:

Blood count & inflammation 3 tests

Red cells, white cells and platelets, blood group, and general inflammation markers.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)

RBC count, haemoglobin, haematocrit, WBC count with differential (neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils), platelet count, and red-cell indices (MCV, MCH, MCHC).

  • CRP (C-Reactive Protein)

The level of C-reactive protein circulating in the blood, which rises within hours of an inflammatory trigger.

  • Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH Serum)

Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH Serum) is a blood test. Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH Serum) is a diagnostic laboratory test carried out on a blood sample. Your doctor may advise it to screen for, diagnose or monitor a related condition, with results reported against standard reference ranges.

Iron & anaemia 1 test

Iron stores and red-cell production - the commonest causes of anaemia and tiredness.

  • Reticulocyte Count

The percentage or absolute count of reticulocytes - red blood cells that are less than a few days old.

Other tests 2 tests

Additional tests included in this package.

  • Haptoglobin Serum

Haptoglobin Serum is a blood test. Haptoglobin Serum is used in the work-up of anaemia to understand blood-cell production and iron status.

  • Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is a blood test. Peripheral blood smear (PBS) is used in the work-up of anaemia to understand blood-cell production and iron status.

6 tests included (31 parameters)

Why consider this package?

  • 6 laboratory investigations in one booking
  • Looks at 3 health areas together, not in isolation
  • All samples collected in a single home visit
  • Costs ₹1,795 less than booking the tests separately
  • Useful for preventive screening, or when your doctor wants these tests together
  • Pathologist-reviewed reports shared online

Who is this package for?

Designed for

Men & women

Age group

All ages

Purpose

Health screening

People with unexplained anaemia, yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, or an enlarged spleen, usually on a doctor's advice.

How often should you get it done?

Once for assessment and then as directed by the treating doctor, since repeat values guide treatment.

Not everyone needs every test. Whether this package suits you depends on your age, symptoms, family history and any ongoing treatment - your doctor can advise.

What can you learn from this package?

The package can provide information about:

  • Blood count & inflammation - Complete Blood Count (CBC), CRP (C-Reactive Protein) and Lactate Dehydrogenase (LDH Serum)
  • Iron & anaemia - Reticulocyte Count
  • Other tests - Haptoglobin Serum and Peripheral blood smear (PBS)

A package gives individual results for each test - it does not diagnose disease by itself.

How to prepare

  • No fasting is required for this package.
  • Drink water as usual, and avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for 24 hours before.
  • Take your regular medicines unless your doctor advises otherwise, and tell the phlebotomist what you take.
  • Wear a loose-sleeved top so the blood sample can be collected easily.

Understanding your package report

Your report lists the result of each test separately, with its own unit and reference range. Values outside the range are highlighted.

There is no single overall "health score" - each result is read on its own and then together with the others. One out-of-range value is not a diagnosis, and a normal report does not guarantee you are completely healthy.

Share the report with your doctor, who will interpret it with your symptoms and history. Call us if you need help reading it.

Frequently asked questions

What does low haptoglobin mean?

Haptoglobin binds free haemoglobin released when red cells burst. A low value suggests that red cells are being destroyed, though liver disease can also lower it.

Why is a blood smear included?

A pathologist looks at red cells under the microscope. Shapes such as spherocytes or fragments give strong clues to the cause of destruction.

Do I need to fast?

No. This panel does not require fasting.

Is this a screening test?

It is an assessment for a specific suspicion, so it is best taken after a doctor has noticed signs of haemolysis. For general anaemia, our nutritional anaemia panels are a better start.
